Get Steady Sums

Steady Sums runs in your web browser, so there’s no app store and no account. Open it to try it straight away, then add it to your home screen. It then works like any other app: full-screen, with its own icon, and without the internet.

On an Android phone or tablet

  1. Open Steady Sums in Chrome on your phone or tablet, by tapping the button above or typing app.steadysums.uk.
  2. Tap “Install”. Chrome often offers this straight away. If not, scroll to the bottom of the Steady Sums home screen and tap 📲 Install Steady Sums on this device, or tap the menu at the top right, then Install app or Add to Home screen.
  3. That’s it. Nova appears on your home screen and in your app list. Steady Sums opens full-screen and works without the internet.

A Google Play version is on its way too. It’s the same app, so you can use whichever you prefer.

On an iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Steady Sums in Safari, by tapping the button above or typing app.steadysums.uk. On newer iPhones and iPads, Chrome and Edge work too.
  2. Tap the Share button . On iPhone it’s at the bottom of the screen, and on iPad it’s at the top right. If you can’t see it, tap first.
  3. Tap “Add to Home Screen” . You may need to scroll down the list to find it. If you see Open as Web App, leave it switched on.
  4. Tap “Add”. Nova appears on your home screen. Steady Sums opens full-screen and works without the internet.

Add Steady Sums to your Home Screen before your child starts. On iPhone and iPad, progress made in Safari stays in Safari, and doesn’t move across to the Home Screen app.

On a computer

  1. Open Steady Sums in Chrome or Edge on Windows, Mac or a Chromebook, by clicking the button above or typing app.steadysums.uk.
  2. Click the install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar, then Install. On a Mac using Safari, choose File, then Add to Dock.
  3. Or just use it in a tab. Steady Sums works in any up-to-date browser, including Firefox, without installing anything.

Good to know

Works offline

Once it has opened once, Steady Sums keeps working with no internet connection, in the car or on holiday.

Updates itself

New topics and fixes arrive automatically the next time it opens with an internet connection.

Progress stays on the device

Nothing is sent to us. To move to a new phone or tablet, use Grown-ups → Save backup, then restore the file on the new device.

More than one child?

Each child needs their own device, or their own browser profile on a shared computer, so their progress stays separate.
